Everyone has a favorite fighter. In racing, there is a saying that goes "you find yourself a driver, you find yourself a fan." Fighting is no different. If you find a fighter you really like, you win and lose with them. You defend them in these threads when they lose, and gloat in haters faces on these same threads when they win. What is your favorite fight of your favorite fighter? Why? Was it the fight that they lost, but showed their grit and heart that enamored you with them? Was it the one where they destroyed an opponent in 30 seconds and left you in awe of thier power and skill that made you a fan?

What is your favorite fighters best fight?

Sakuraba:  For me it has to be Sakuraba vs Newton. The "gentleman's agreement" with the striking was awesome. Great skill displayed by both. This is still the first fight I show friends who are new to the sport, or those who have not heard of Sakuraba. I love this fight.

I know that the Royce fight got him the most eyeballs and was epic, but the Newton fight was the first Saku fight I watched besides the Conan fight, and during the Conan fights, I didn't really know my shit the first time I watched them.

Anderson destroying Forrest. I truly believe some people that haven’t trained would of done better. But that was when Anderson was completely in the matrix

I wish that Andy would have fought Adesanya, and not the Andy with like 300,000 miles on n him. What a fight that would have been!

Jeremy Horn. He lost, but he took down Randy Couture, demonstrating the towering power of hard work, and technique.

Mauricio Shogun. Best fight is against Hendo 1. He lost. Next best fight is when he took the horse shoe outta the machida era and beat it over the head. Whoooah!

I can’t even come up with a favorite fighter off the top of my head. Probably Stipe vs. Ngannou

I started watching MMA in 2005/2006 but I became a hardcore in 2008 after watching BJ knock out Sherk at UFC 84. I knew who BJ was of course, but I had never seen anything like that flying knee before. He became my hero that night.

GSP vs Bisping. Big fan of both fighters, but for Georges to come back after that amount of time, ups weight and win via rear naked was awesome. Cemented his place as the GOAT for me

Frank Mir finishing Nogueira with kimura. Just brutal and vs high-level submissioner, even thought it might have been partly because of the referee. The comeback and scramble on the floor were amazing.

McGregor vs Mendes. Chad was supposed to be Conor’s worst match up according to every hater (the Frankie narrative revisionist history didn’t start until after the Mendes fight) and Conor went into that fight obviously less than 100% against his so called worst match up who btw had the advantage of being out of the USADA testing pool at the time and Conor still knocked them out. This is the fight that showed Conor would undoubtedly become a hall of famer.

A close 2nd was Conor vs Aldo. Wasn’t much of a fight but the pure shock of Conor blasting Aldo in the opening exchange was the most exhilarating feeling I’ve ever had watching a sporting event. That was a legendary moment that will be played on sports networks until the end of time.

Fedor

It could have easily been his fight with Mirko, or his fights with Nog when Nog was a God, or his fights with Arlovski and Sylvia in Afliction when the UFC was trying to smear his image by talking trash and the fanboys were buying into it until he just nonchalantly beat every UFC fanboy right along with Arlovski and Sylvia. But no, my favorite fight of his had to be when he beat Matt Lindland. Not because it was a special fight or anything but it was just funny seeing Orcus have a complete meltdown complaining about Fedor grabbing the ropes for days weeks and months on end after that fight. It tore him up and I loved it.

This was going to be mine as well.

It’s so hard to narrow it down to just 1, and since you beat me to it, I’ll pick another.

Heath Herring - the Big Cat Tom Erikson fight in Pride. Heath got smothered the first 7 or 8 minutes or so. Tom was dominating him on the ground positionally, but not really doing a ton of damage. Crazy Texas Horse finally gets a standup, gets FIRED UP, and unleashed hell, getting the finish.
