Who is an up and comer with tons of hype that fell short very quickly?

I am a fan of Sage Northcutt but his match making led to a quick drop off.  I remember when

he hit the UFC his physique and charisma led to very decent paydays and for a bit Paige and Sage were

the big prospects.

Sage still has a lot of potential but for sure his train went off the tracks temporarily at least.

I know there are better examples out there, whatcha got?

David Terrell’s hype train was pulverized by Evan Tanner.

Hype trains are what makes this sport so much fun. A new evolved breed that looks unstoppable, until they don’t. Too many to name, but Vitor has to be the first and still one of the biggest, most dramatic examples of this.

Mayhem Miller’s Submission game. It was “light years ahead” of GSP until they actually grappled. That was a quick derailing

I got on board the Johnny Walker Hype Train early on, and just when it was gathering steam it went off the rails. He can still be a factor in the top 10 at LHW, but the shine is gone.

Not an up and comer, but the “Machida era” was short lived.

Shit I didnt even think about him.

He has the perfect pedigree.  Superb striking, wrestling.

No fight IQ.  Charges in wild if he clips anyone.  Doesn't use his wrestling at all.

I hope he pulls it together but so far getting KTFO badly multiple times in his first few fights doesn't look good.

If it wasn't for Shogun he may well have held the belt until Jon Jones got there.

Some good ones are already taken but another one is Philip Nover who was going to be the next Anderson Silva

Pico because you can have all the skill in the world and he has but if you combine that with low fight IQ and a glass jaw you can only go so far
